| What do you do when someone abandons a Dog on your property? |

Well- if you are a dog person, you take her to get fixed, get her shots and call everyone and every rescue group you know to see who would like an adorable ten month old puppy.
*Cross-posted like crazy- please repost in any place you feel is appropriate*
That being said- here is the story:
About ten days ago- between the hours of 6pm and10pm, someone tied this puppy
to a tree at the curb in front of my house in Reseda. When my girlfriend went out to her car later that night, she thought there was a strange dog weaving around behind her car.
I went out front with a flashlight and sure enough, there was.
But she wasn't weaving because she was sick, she was desperately trying to hide behind a car and the curb, and she couldn't get away because she was abandoned, choke-chained and wired to the tree with about six feet of chain and heavy gauge wire
She was scared, she was submissive and she was dirty from hiding in the street.
We disconnected her from the tree and used calm and soothing tones to get her in to the yard, on to the porch, in to the house and eventually in to a crate. We fed her, watered her, bathed her, flea treated her and yesterday went to a vet and got her spayed.
She gets along fabulously with my other dog and he's old and somewhat cranky (as am I upon occasion). She's a total sweetheart. She just wants to be around people. She's got her nose in my feet right now. She snuggly and happy and knows "Sit". She is a really sweet nice dog.
I can't have another dog. I just can't. It's not fair to my room mates and frankly, one dog is enough for me.
Someone took this sweet puppy and abandoned her. I would like to find her a home. I've called about 20 rescues and no one has room. The attitude seems to be if she's not in the pound about to die, they don't want to hear about it.
So- if you or someone you know is looking for a housebroken, sweet 40 pound girl puppy (that's been spayed and vaccinated) that is about ten months old and is not expected to get any bigger, please reply here or contact me at my email address
If you also know of a rescue that has room or of a nice no-kill shelter in Los Angeles (and I MEAN no Kill, part and parcel to being a dog person is that I will not send her in to a situation where she might get put down or worse, thrown in to a dog fight as bait- *shudder*), please also send me any links or information here.

The stupidly hot can stop ANY TIME now!
I'm still coping pretty well, but the humid makes the swamp cooler nigh useless and the hot is wearing on me pretty hard at this point. And it's only the beginning of July. My 5-day forecast on weather underground states 94-94-92-90-92 today through Sunday.

Anything going on on the 4th? BBQ's, pool parties, etc?
I've got four days off, sucka and I'm not afraid to use them. The beach is good, but Mindy's not going in to the water- sharks will eat her. Or she'll get an ear infection. It's just the way of things.
Barring anything spectacular (and I'm not going to the 4th of JuPlaya), I'll just have another Sci Fi Friday. Maybe we'll watch Team America (Fuck YEAH!) or the like.
Dunno.

I am so increadibly frustrated right now. My insurance covers three midwives in this town (read entire LA basin).
The one in Inglewood I don't like. The one downtown... her phone number is out of service. The one at UCLA doesn't do well woman care!! WTF?! Seriously, how does someone not do well woman care? *UGH*
So please, recomend an OB-GYN. Hopefully, I can find someone my insurance covers.
And yes, I know I'm an idiot for waiting until the last minute. |

| Two- no Three other things |

First other thing:
I'm having a blast in my weekly game. It's fun. We're almost done with our campaign and we're playing Star Wars: Saga edition next. I, specifically, am not allowed to play a Jedi. I'm okay with this. Jonathan playing a Jedi = Easy mode plus endless arguing over why one can't be a gray Jedi. A "Balance" Jedi and all that.
Second: After the game last night ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) op_lattethunder and I runnoft to see WALL-E. We both really liked it. It's as awesome as any other Pixar movie- which is to say, it's pretty goddamn awesome.
Part the Third:
My girlfriend rocks.

Oh- oh oh! Fourth thing- in case you all missed it because I posted it on Saturday:
Does anyone know anyone who is in the market to Adopt a puppy? We rescued an abandoned puppy last Monday and we're looking for a home for her. I neither want nor need another dog. I'm getting her spayed tomorrow or Wednesday along with all her shots.
She's house broken, good with other dogs, about ten months old, very submissive and if you leave bloody (raw) steak out where she can get to it, she hasn't been trained well enough not to grab it off the counter. At least not yet- (Sorry eain!, I'll get more for you on the way home).
She's cute as a button and really really sweet.
But remember folks, She's a pit bull mix and as such is a vicious killer (Proof behind that link!)

Had a pretty craptastic saturday. Waited aaaaaaaall day for K to deliver his animation work so I could go see my friends in Malibu Canyon. he could not get it together to compress and FTP the files so I ended up driving to Hollywood at 1:00Am to pick up a hard drive from him. And becuase of this the footage can't be baked into Flash till monday and we will be a day late with our delivery.
I was so tempted to just go about my day and have fun but I couldn't bring myself to fuck off like that.
Just makes me want to shoot him out of a cannon.
In other news my car battery died spectacularly. I opened up the hood sat morning to find it covered in corroded battery acid. So Donny gave me a jump and I drove over to Pep Boys for a new battery. Those fuckers then made me wait around for 2 HOURS before they installed it.
Two hours? Really? What, does it take more than 10 minutes to install a car battery? And they charged me $100 for the battery, I looked the guy dead in the eye and made him explain exactly why it was gonna cost twice what I thought. He claimed it was a VW thing and I claimed I'd be back for a rebate if I found it cheaper anywhere else. There is nothing more boring than a Pep Boys. i just sat and fumed and tried not to think about Malibu.
I need to learn more about cars so I can do this kind of thing myself. If I'd known it would take so long I would have just tried to figure it out, I've seen it done before, but there was so much battery acid on everything I was not sure how to deal with it.
I am so totally charging a full day of overtime for Saturday, frustrating phone calls all day and then a trip to Hollywood at 1am? Fuck that. And I think I will take thursday off so I can have a four day weekend. I need some time away from mickey and friends. |
